October 17th 2011 sees the publication of CASTING SAMSON, a brand-new Melinda Hammond story -
The Pageant to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of St John's church seems an unlikely setting for
a male stripper, but when the Committee needs someone to play Samson, Deborah
Kemerton thinks Josh Lancaster would be perfect for the part. Anne Lindsay, a fellow Committee member, is
more interested in the history of the church, but her use of local legends to
publicise the event brings her into conflict with historian Professor Toby Duggan,
until they call an uneasy truce while they try to discover the truth about the
origins of the church.
Watching over the actions of
Moreton's villagers is the old church itself, with its ancient effigy of Hugo
de Moreton. But is Hugo the founder of the church, and one of the Knights
Templar, or is it all a romantic myth?
By the day of the pageant Anne Lindsay seems no nearer to finding the
truth and as plans for the fund-raising go disastrously awry, she and Deborah
fear that all their hard work will be wasted, without some sort of miracle……
